报告摘要:

C1 and N1 relevant heterogeneous catalytic reactions play critical roles in the development of sustainable energy and environment. The robust synthesis of novel catalysts represents a proactive approach/solution with the attempts of achieving significant improvements in the term of activity, selectivity and stability. In recent research, we applied multiple techniques (e.g., thermal-shock, Ostwald ripening, self-assembling etc.) and developed versatile catalysts (e.g., high entropy alloy NPs, single or dimer atom(s) catalysts etc.), featuring with either optimal binding energy with key intermediates or refinement effect toward reaction behavior, tackling the challenges in the reactions (e.g., NH3 decomposition, CH4 direct conversion, NO reduction etc.) associated with high energy consumption and severe environmental issues.

Understanding the thermodynamics and kinetics of different reactions, especially the investigation of reaction pathway and the rate-limitation step provides the insights to rationally manipulate the active centers. With the aid of various in situ or operando characterizations, we established scaling of N binding energy with activity in NH3 decomposition and revealed new C2 mechanism for methane direction conversion. In recent, a new concept of compression energy is also proposed, which not only extends the traditional Langmuir-Hinshelwood (L-H) adsorption theory, gives deeper understanding regarding the reaction mechanism, but also can be generally used to precisely quantify the active sites (e.g., dimers) and guide the designing of new catalysts.
