For admission to CNST’s undergraduate program, all domestic students are expected to pass the national university entrance exam (“Gao Kao” in Chinese). Applicants must rank among the top 5% in the entrance exam. The applications are reviewed by the university admissions office based on the applicants’ performance in two of the three selective pre-professional subjects, which are physics, chemistry, and biology.

  

Enrollment of International Students

For admission to CNST, all international students must be comfortable with rapid and idiomatic spoken English. There are several different ways to demonstrate the applicant’s proficiency in English.

  1. English is the applicant’s first language.

  2. Applicant has attended an English-language school for at least 5 years.

  3. Applicant has earned one or more of the following English Language Proficiency certifications:

  1. TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language). A minimum score of 500 (paper-based test) or 80 (Internet-based test) is necessary for the admission to CNST.

  2. IELTS (International English Language Testing System). The minimum score is 6.0 to be admitted for study at CNST.

  

Acceptance of Transfer Students

Students may transfer to CNST from other departments in Soochow University. Applications should also meet the following requirements:

  1. Applicant must have majored in a Science, Engineering, or Medicine program.

  2. Applicant must be comfortable with rapid and idiomatic spoken English.

  3. Applicant must have at least a grade point average (GPA) of 3.6 in their major professional courses.
