The 2nd Meeting of the Executive Council for the Collaborations among Soochow University, University of Waterloo and Suzhou Industrial Park was convened at the Conference Room in Binglin Library on February 22, 2012.
On February 22, 2012, three co-founders of SUN-WIN Joint Research Institute for Nanotechnology -- Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP), Soochow University, and the University of Waterloo in Canada signed an agreement on long-term cooperation in nanotech innovation and commercialization.
At the ceremony, representatives of SIP, UW and Soochow University unveiled the plate, announcing the formal establishment of SUN-WIN Joint Research Institute for Nanotechnology. The partnership pools the strengths of three parties for the mission to facilitate academic exchanges, to train elite nanotech talents, and to promote technological innovation and industrialization.
Prof. Shuit-Tong Lee received the letter of appointment at the ceremony and became the first dean of the joint research institute.
Dr. Arthur Carty, Executive Director of Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology at UW, received the letter of appointment at the ceremony and became the honorary dean of the joint research institute.
