On September 13, 2015, the College of Nano Science and Technology held the opening ceremony and parents meeting for 2015 undergraduates in the academic hall, Binglin Library. 98 freshmen with their parents attended. The secretary of the party committee, Ji Jing, hosted the meeting. The Dean of CNST, Lee Shuit-Tong, and professors of the college gave welcome speeches .

Professor Shuit-Tong Lee warmly welcomed the freshmen, and gave thanks to the parents who had come from so far. Prof. Lee introduced the history and future prospects of nano industry which is a key industry in Jiangsu. He also emphasized the strengths of CNST as one of the 17 pilot colleges in China. He emphasized innovation and international awareness as important qualities that our students must cultivate. Prof. Lee ended with his best wishes to all of the freshmen and hoped that their school life would be meaningful and joyful.

Next, Prof. Zhang Xiaohong shared his own experience of the college entrance examination 30 years ago, aiming to inspire the freshmen to work hard for great achievements in university.

Later, Prof. Chi Lifeng gave her suggestions on how students can enrich themselves academically. Listening to her sincere wishes and kind words, the students benefited much from her speech.

Prof. Wang Suidong then introduced the general situation of the college and its majors. Prof. Wang explained in detail the history, management, reform, and future plans in education of CNST. He emphasized the quality of the professors and the reform project, so that the audience could learn about the education and management of CNST.

Next, the professors present all gave talks about the college and their own experience and thoughts. From English to Chinese, from welcomes to wishes, from school life to study, they provided much useful advice for the freshmen.

At the end of the meeting, the representative of students and those of parents gave talks on their thoughts about Soochow University and their wishes for CNST.

After the meeting, students and their parents came to the tea party that was divided into physics, chemistry, and biology streams, where corresponding professors were there to answer questions from students and parents.

The ceremony and meeting ended in warm applause. The 2015 undergraduates brought life and energy, and they are the ones who will build glory for the college. Since CNST started, it has welcomed many excellent students and is improving every year because of them. It is hoped the students will also become outstanding and have a wonderful school life here!
