From Nov. 1 to Nov. 5, 2015 Light, Energy and the Environment Congress was held in Soochow University. The opening ceremony was launched at the Conference Hall of Binglin Library on the morning of November 2. General Chair, Prof. Shuit-Tong Lee from Soochow University warmly greeted all participants from all over the world.

General Chair and OSA Board of Meetings Prof. Kenneth Baldwin from Australian National University also spoke at the ceremony.

Sune Svanberg from Lund University, Sweden gave a talk at the plenary session entitled “Laser Spectroscopy Applied to Environmental, Ecological and Medical Research”.

This comprehensive Congress examines the frontiers in the development of optical technologies for energy production, transport, and use. It also examines the use of optical and photonic approaches to monitor energy usage and the effects energy production has on the environment. The congress brought together almost 300 researchers, engineers, students and managers across the globe.
