Research Experiences and Accomplishments
Dr. Cheng’s work has focused on the preparation of functional nanostructured inorganic materials and their applications in nanomedicine. Over the past several years, he has developed three types of functional biomaterials for imaging-guided cancer photo-therapy and combined therapy. It has been shown that such novel strategies offer obvious advantages in realizing precise treatment of cancer and improving the specificity of tumor therapy.
Dr. Cheng has authored a total of over 245 peer-reviewed SCI papers, including Chem Rev., Chem. Soc. Rev., Nat. Commun., Chem, J. Am. Chem. Soc., Adv. Mater., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Adv. Funct. Mater., Natl. Sci. Rev., Nano Today, which have been cited by others over 30, 000 times (H-index = 93). Dr. Cheng was listed as one of the ‘Highly Cited Researchers (Materials Science)’ by Clarivate Analytics in 2017-2024 and ‘China’s Highly Cited Researchers (Materials Science)’ in 2017-2023. Dr. Cheng served as the deputy editor of Journal of Nanobiotechnology (IF=10.6, Q1). He was supported by key projects and general projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China's Joint Fund for Regional Development, as well as outstanding young people in Jiangsu Province and outstanding young people in Jiangsu Province. He was also selected as the Young ChangJiang Scholar of the Ministry of Education, Tang Scholar of Suzhou University, Soochow Scholar of Suzhou University, and the Jiangsu 333 Talent Project. Now, based on the previous studies of functional nanomaterials for in vivo multimodal imaging and tumor therapy, Dr. Cheng wants to develop bioactive functional nanomaterials for enhanced cancer treatment. The goal is to find a few kinds of bioactive theranostic agents with low toxicity and high cancer therapeutic performances.
