Prof. Liao Liangsheng Named SID Fellow

Recently, following a review by the Honors and Awards Committee and a resolution by the Board of Directors of the Society for Information Display (SID), Professor Liao Liangsheng from our college (FUNSOM) has been named an SID Fellow. This honor recognizes his contributions to the research and practice of tandem OLED device structures, as well as his sustained efforts in advancing the development and commercialization of tandem OLED technology. We extend our warmest congratulations to Professor Liao Liangsheng!

SID Fellow is a prestigious honorary title conferred by the SID Board of Directors upon the recommendation of the Honors and Awards Committee to a very select group of the most outstanding experts and scholars in the field of information display. The number of honorees does not exceed 0.1% of the Society's total membership in a given year, with approximately five to six individuals selected globally each year. Those who receive this honor are scientists who are widely recognized worldwide for their exceptional contributions to the advancement of information display technology.

Liao Liangsheng is a Professor at the Institute of Functional Nano & Soft Materials (FUNSOM), Soochow University, and Executive Director of the Institute of Organic Optoelectronics, Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute (JITRI). He is one of the inventors of tandem OLED technology. He has been engaged in research on OLED materials, devices, and equipment for nearly 30 years, experiencing the entire journey from laboratory research to independent industrialization of OLED technology in China. He has served as Principal Investigator for projects including the National 863 Program, the National Key R&D Program of China, and key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). He has published over 600 papers (including in Nature, Nature Materials, Nature Chemistry, Nature Photonics, and Nature Electronics), with more than 28,000 SCI citations and an h-index of 87. He has appeared consecutively on Elsevier's Highly Cited Chinese Researchers list since 2014. He holds 281 granted patents (including 140 Chinese invention patents and 42 US invention patents), with over 2,400 patent citations. He has received the "Distinguished Inventor" Award from Eastman Kodak Company, has been appointed as an expert on the National Key R&D Program Expert Group, and currently serves as a permanent Deputy Editor of Applied Physics Letters (American Institute of Physics). Additionally, he was named as a valid candidate for election to the Chinese Academy of Sciences in both 2021 and 2023.
