Yao He is professor of Institute of Functional Nano&Soft Materials at Soochow University in China. He received his bachelor degree (2003) in chemistry from Fudan University (China), and continued the graduate study (Master and Doctor) in Fudan University (China) in 2003-2007. He was a visiting scholar for the joint program in Shanghai Institute of Applied Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (2005-2007). Afterwards, he worked in the Center of Super-Diamond and Advanced Films (COSDAF) in the City University of Hong Kong, HKSAR, China, as a research fellow. He became an associate professor (2009) and was promoted to full professor (2011) in Institute of Functional Nano & Soft Materials (FUNSOM) at Soochow University (China).

Details
His research interests are in chemical biology and bioanalysis, nanotechnology, development of functional nanomaterials for bioapplications (e.g., bioimaging and biosensors), and biosafety assessment of nanomaterials. In particular, he developed functional silicon nanostructures with unique optical /thermal properties for bioimaging, biosensing, and cancer therapy applications, providing potentially promising tools for early cancer diagnosis and cancer treatment.
Starting from 2009 when Dr. He established his group, he has authored over 30 peer-reviewed papers with an impact factor (IF) lager than 7.0, 12 of which were published on top chemistry, materials and biomedicine journals (IF > 9.9) as the first author or corresponding authors, including 3 Angewandte Chemie and 1 JACS Cover. The awards Dr. He received include Science and Technology Award (the first prize) of Analysis and Testing Association of China (CAIA) in 2009, and Chinese Chemical Society Award for outstanding young scientist (10 awardees per year) in 2012. He served as a chief scientist of the “youth 973” project (National key scientific research projects) in 2013.
Reports on silicon nanostructures-based biosensing and bioimaging applications were published as Covers of J. Am. Chem. Soc., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., and Appl. Phys. Lett.
