College of Nano Science & Technology (CNST) is a modern college jointly established by Soochow University, Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) and the University of Waterloo (Canada). We aim at providing high-quality professional nanoscience and nanotechnology education to accommodate the demands of the rapidly changing fields of nanoscience and nanotechnology. The college was founded in December 2010, and was soon approved as one of the 17 National Pilot Colleges by the Ministry of Education. The College is leading the transformation of higher education in China.
CNST offers bachelor's, master's, and Ph.D. degree programs in nanomaterials and nanotechnology. Currently, there are 1270 students in the college, including 433 undergraduates, 635 master's students, and 202 Ph.D. candidates. The majority of the faculty members are from the Institute of Functional Nano and Soft Materials (FUNSOM, founded in 2008) at Soochow University, with strong educational and interdisciplinary research backgrounds in chemistry, physics, materials science, biomedical sciences, and electronic engineering. CNST, FUNSOM, and SUN-WIN Joint Research Institute for Nanotechnology (jointly established in 2011 by Soochow University, Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology at the University of Waterloo, and Suzhou Industrial Park) are pioneering a unique "tripartite" organizational structure combining teaching, research, and industrialization.
