On March 25, 2026 at the Zhongguancun Forum Annual Conference held in Beijing, the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) released the top 10 scientific advances of 2025 in China. The research achievement "Creation of high-performance flexible tandem solar cells for aerospace applications through novel interfacial regulation methods" by Professor Zhang Xiaohong from the Institute of Functional Nano & Soft Materials (FUNSOM) and Professors Liu Jiang and Yang Xinbo from the College of Energy at Soochow University was selected.

Creation of high-performance flexible tandem solar cells for aerospace applications through novel interfacial regulation methods
This research proposes two strategies—a dual buffer layer and indium cerium oxide thin film preparation—to synergistically achieve efficient charge transport and stress dissipation at the nanoscale, which resulted in the development of a flexible perovskite/silicon tandem solar cells with high efficiency and exceptional stability under mechanical stress. The fabricated device demonstrates a high certified efficiency of 33.6%, showing significant potential for applications in fields such as aerospace.
